House Update!

I can not believe how much has happened in the past month! Every time we go out to the house we get more and more excited as the move in day gets closer!

Let's do a recap from the last post!

Michael and I did a walk through with the electrician one morning that turned into a lot more work than I expected. We went room by room deciding where to put the outlets, what switches go on the plates, what type of lights we wanted and where, and like a trillion other things that I didn't realize take so much thought. About a week after this meeting, all the electrical was run through the house. At the same time the AC and water were run through the house. It looked like a giant octopus in the ceiling!

At the beginning of the next week, insulation was run through the house.

We then had a stained concrete meeting that did not go as planned. Michael and I really wanted stained concrete, but with some errors to our floors, this was not what I wanted anymore. Since this was the week before Christmas and we were trying to make a decision on what to do next, we were at a stand still through the holidays.

When the holidays were over and the new flooring decision was made it was time for drywall! We went out on Sunday after church and were so excited to see the house! Everyone was right, it does look a lot better once the drywall goes up!

Today I had a meeting with our construction manager at the house and loved seeing the next step in the drywall! Everything was taped and floated, so much cleaner looking. Sadly we have had a TON of rain the past few days so it is really humid here so the drywall is taking a little longer than normal to dry. Today I picked the locations and set up of the shelves and beams in the closets, pantry, and utility room.

The next week should include texturing the drywall, trim, stone work, paint, and cabinets being installed!! YAY!! So so so excited!!

Updates of the outside of the house! The pillars in the front and back will be wrapped up to waist height with white limestone.

A LOT Happens in 2 Weeks!

It is hard to believe that 3 weeks ago we were looking at a concrete pad and now there is a house there! I feel like as if I do not go out every day I am going to miss something BIG! Luckily Michael brings me back to reality and I realize we can not always go out there every day.

We went out 3 times this week!! Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday! Just enough times to make me a happy camper! And there was a big change from the beginning of the week to yesterday.

I went out to meet with our construction manager on Tuesday since he had been out of town the past week and a half. They had started work on the roof, added all the windows, and started the siding!

On Thursday we spent 5 hours at the house!! We met with the stain concrete guy about how it will work and picking our colors and then we met with the electrician. Who would have thought picking where outlets will go, how many switches per plate, and if we want dimmers would take so much work?! We basically went wall by wall through every room and picked everything imaginable.
While we had these meetings the guys were working away! We had a huge rain storm after I left Tuesday that lasted all day so they were still working on the roof, the plumbing had been done, they were still working on the siding, and so many other things!

On Saturday, Michael's parents came out with us and they got to see all the progress! It had changed a bunch since they had seen it.

Oh, a good thing for us happened. When they were doing the roof they realized they had an issue with the back patio roof. Either we had to vault the ceiling or they could raise the roof 2 feet to solve the issue. We chose to raise the roof 2 feet and it looks GREAT!! We love the new look to the back of the house. And I LOVE all the windows!!

This week will be full of more good stuff inside! The electrician comes in on Tuesday, AC/duct work will be done and then its stained concrete time! We will have to do sampling and then once we pick the right combination of colors that will be the only thing going on until its dry.

Let's hope the next 2ish months go as fast as these 2 weeks did :]

House Update!!

We are making progress on our house!! YAY!!
The past few weeks have been rain free - good for house building, bad for everyone else, so a lot has been done!

Here are pictures from the framing of the foundation.

We went out a few days later and they had done the plumbing and electrical!

I woke up super early on our first cold morning and watched the concrete get poured!! I could barley sleep the night before, I was so excited! Today our property went from a lot to a home! And it is so wonderful to say home now! It makes it so much more real!!

On our way out of town to Colorado before Thanksgiving we stopped to see the dried foundation! Michael had not seen it yet so he was very excited! It was so smooth and looked great! We can just picture what our stained concrete will look like!

The morning after we got home from Colorado we could not wait to go see the progress! It was so great to see how much had been done!

We walked into our home on Sunday! We were able to completely walk through each room and know exactly what it will be. Crazy to think we made about 40 different plans and finally decided on 1 and here it is! It is perfect for us!

I really wanted to go out and see the progress tonight, but Kurk Homes surprised me and added pictures of our house from today!! Lucky for Michael since I was bothering him like crazy to go out there tonight!

Tomorrow they start putting in the windows and Monday the roof goes on!! We are so excited for this step in our lives and are so glad we can share it with everyone!

I will do my best keeping everyone updated!
