The Front Porch Grill & Music

Two of my good friends opened a wonderful new restaurant in College Station and I wanted to share it with everyone!

The Front Porch Grill and Music is located behind Northgate on Church Street and is open late for all you night owls who need some snacks after a night out :] They are also open early for some delicious breakfast tacos you have to try!

Michael and I couldn't wait to try their delicious hamburgers we had heard a lot about in the first few days since their opening! Luckily we were not disappointed and loved these greasy things.

Grandma and Grandpa's 60th Wedding Anniversary

This weekend we went to Fredericksburg with Michael's dad's side of the family to celebrate his grandparents 60th Wedding Anniversary! How amazing is it to say they have spent 60 wonderful years with the same person. Sadly this does not happen anymore for most couples, but Michael and I just pray we are able to celebrate our 60th wedding anniversary with our family in 59 years!

Sadly most of Michael's dad's side of the family lives out of town so we do not get to see them much, so when we do we try to spend as much time with them as possible.

We got to Fredericksburg on Friday early evening and went right to dinner with everyone. We ate at a great restaurant, Bejas Grill, and spent the evening catching up with his family. We then went to a great musical that all the parents loved! It was full of music that reminded them of when they were in highschool. The next time you are in Fredericksburg and are looking for something fun to do and love music from the 50s-80s, check out The Rockbox Theater.

Saturday we all ate breakfast at the Bed and Breakfast and spent the day walking around town, doing a few wine tastings, and visiting Becker Winery (no wine tasting for me here, but for Michael's Dad and sister). We then went back to the Bed and Breakfast and spent some more family time and got ready for an amazing dinner at Cabernet Grill. Everyone ordered the most amazing food and was completely stuffed, then a delecious marble cake came out that we all couldn't help but add to our full bellies. Afterwards Michael, Michael's sister, brother, and I went to the local brewery and sadly watched Texas win by 1 point, booo :[ But when we got back to the Bed and Breakfast we joined everyone to watch the nail biting Michigan vs Notre Dame game. So glad we did not stop watching!! We were/are so happy to see Michigan WIN! It was an anniversary present from Michigan to Grandma and Grandpa!

Today, Sunday, we all ate breakfast together and then headed our separate ways. Back to Dallas, Colorado, Georgia, Waco, Houston, and College Station. It was great to have all Michael's dad's siblings and some of the grandchildren come celebrate their parents 60th Anniversary with them. It was such a wonderful weekend to spend with great family! Now we can't wait for the next family get together to see everyone again!

Happy Anniversary Grandma and Grandpa! We love you both so much and hope we can follow in your footsteps!

Our Engagement Pictures

Slowly I will be adding wedding recaps of our amazing day, but today I thought I would share our engagement pictures! We had a wonderful photographer that we were so lucky to find him! Check out his website if you are needing the BEST photographer in Central Texas!

Michael and I got engaged on January 31st and had to get our engagement pictures done soon after as we only had a 7 month engagement. We found Will through a friend and could not have found anyone better!

I can not believe we have been married over a year already! Time sure does fly by! I love being able to look back and see all the beautiful pictures we have to remember this wonderful time in our life!

Check out Will's page here!!

The Best Time of the Year!

Thank goodness it is College Football season! Michael and I LOVE this time of the year! We are not interested really in pro football so we have been longing for college football to start.

Michael and I both went to Texas A&M and we are both proud to be Fightin' Texas Aggies!! For those of you not familiar with Texas A&M, the student body is considered the 12th man, as any of us would be willing at any time to step on the field and play for our team! (But that will never have to happen as we have an amazing team with more players then ever to keep the team going). The 12th man stands the entire game like the football players do on the field to show our dedication to the team. This may sound crazy to someone who is not an Aggie, but this is normal!

This year we have season tickets with Michael's parents as I am no longer a student and Michael is a grad student. So this year we will not be standing the entire game which will be a nice change! Also the best part of season tickets we will not be sitting in the direct sunlight as we are on a different side of the stadium (the student side is directly in sunlight).

Since we got the tickets in May all I wanted was to fast forward to September! And luckily it is here now and we have 6 more home games to attend!!

If you have never been to a home A&M football game there are no words to describe it. Maroon is EVERYWHERE! Everyone is happy and excited for a great game! Tailgating is on every corner and there are about a trillion people all over campus! It is amazing!

When we got to our seats I had never seen the student side in action before! Words can not explain how awesome it was! There were so loud and their side was completely full! The game was sold out and was the 6th biggest crowd in school history and the biggest crowd for a season opener.

The game was great! A&M took the lead after the 2nd play when they intercepted the ball from SMU and that was just the beginning. A&M ended up winning the game 46 to 14 and the Texas A&M fans were ecstatic for what this season has in store!

Besides the Texas A&M game on Sunday evening, we watched many games this weekend or at least a lot of most games. It was a great first weekend of college football and I can not wait for what this season has in store!!

Brown Butter Strawberry Banana Bread!!

Yesterday at work was "Tasty Thursday" again and it was bread day! When I first thought about it, I thought wow I have actually never made bread. But luckily Laura reminded me of fruit bread, duh!!

So I was trying to decide on what I should make and I ran across this little slice of heaven!

As soon as I read the recipe I knew I was making it! The best part, it is very simple!

Here are all the ingredients:
Salt, Brown Sugar, Flour, Plain Yogurt, Baking Soda, Cinnamon, Bananas, Eggs, Strawberries, Vanilla and Butter

You start by greasing and flouring a bread pan and turning the oven to 350*F

Next melt ½ cup of butter on medium heat on the stove. You are going to be browning the butter so you will want to wait till you hear the butter start popping and foaming. Once this happens it is a few more minutes until the butter starts to brown. When it starts smelling like nuts, it is done. Pour into a bowl and let cool.

Popping and Foaming Butter

Browned Butter Cooling

In a small bowl mash 3 bananas and let sit while you get everything else together.

Mashed Bananas

In a large bowl whisk together 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, ¾ cup brown sugar, ¾  ground cinnamon, and ½ teaspoon salt.

Dry ingredients

In a smaller bowl whisk together 2 large eggs, 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract, and ¼ cup plain yogurt. Mix in the mashed bananas into this mixture and when the butter has cooled mix this into the wet mixture as well.

All the Wet Ingredients put together

Add all the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients bowl all at once. Fold the wet into the dry mixture trying not to stir too much. Make sure you scrap all the dry ingredients off the bottom of the bowl. Then fold in 1 cup of thinly sliced strawberries.

Wet and Dry Ingredients Combined
Now with the Strawberries Added

Use the spoon and pour the batter into the bread pan. Cover the top of the bread with thinly sliced strawberries.

What it looks like Before it goes in the oven

Cook bread for 50 minutes to an hour, or until you stick a toothpick in and it comes out without batter.

What it looks like when it comes out of the oven

Enjoy :]
